Things to do in Cedar City, Utah

Outdoor Activities:

Nestled against the Southern Utah mountains, Cedar City is an ideal destination for those who love outdoor activities. Cedar City is extremely close to some of the greatest places for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, climbing, skiing & snowboarding, camping, and stargazing. Cedar City also serves as a great midway point between Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park.

Horseback Riding at Rising K Ranch

Picture
Of course this opinion is not without bias; but one of the top things to do in the Cedar City Area is to take a horseback ride here at Rising K Ranch. The mountains at the ranch offer plenty of magnificent views, such as you see in the photographs above, and in the photographs used all over this website. Our horseback rides are suitable for all experience levels and we even offer ongoing horseback riding lessons.

Mountain Biking

Picture
Cedar City has plenty to offer in terms of great mountain bike trails. Just outside of Cedar City are such mountain biking trails as "The Iron Trails Sampler."

In the warmer months, you can head up Highway 14 about 45 minutes to some much higher altitudes. There are such mountain bike trails up there as the Navajo Lake Loop and the Bunker Creek Trail.

Almost any time of the year you can head down 45 minutes into the desert trails outside of Zion National Park, such as Wire Mesa Loop.

In addition to the several hiking trails just on the outskirts of Cedar City, such as Rainbow Canyon, you can go up into the Markagunt Plateau in the Cedar Breaks/ Duck Creek area, or down into the Zion National Park area.
