South Fork of Taylor Creek
Description: A short hike that takes you up the dry wash of the South Fork of Taylor Creek into the canyon that lies between Beatty Point and Paria Point in Kolob Canyon.
Distance: 1 Mile one way
Difficulty: Moderate
Highest Elevation: 6,500 Feet Above Sea Level
Jurisdiction: Zion National Park
This hike begins at an unmarked area. Drive 3.1 miles up Kolob Canyons Road from the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center and park at a small parking area on your right. From there, walk to the east side of the curve in the road and walk down the unmarked path. The canyon from the very road is obvious and beautiful. The hike takes you into an area with sheer red rock walls on either side.
You will primarily be following footprints along a faint trail since this is an unofficial route that goes along the bank of the dry creek. You will soon be in between the canyon walls and will have fine scenery all around you, such as the many arches, small alcoves and other unique formations within the walls. Eventually, the trail will climb up into a spot where a 20 foot drop-off will stop you from proceeding any further.
