Riverside Walk

Picture
Description: An easy, paved walk that takes you from the Temple of Sinawava along the Virgin River, ending where The Narrows truly begins. The first half of this trail is wheelchair accessible. After that, there are enough steep grades that wheelchairs are not recommended.

Distance: 1.8 Miles Round Trip

Difficulty: Easy

Jurisdiction: Zion National Park

The trailhead for Riverside Walk is located at The Temple of Sinawava, where there is a shuttle stop, restroom, and drinking water bottle filling station. This is one of the most highly visited trails in Zion National Park.

This trail is paved the entire distance of the hike, though there are many areas where the pavement is covered with about a quarter inch of sand from the nearby river banks and hills. The trail goes up and down small inclines and declines until it ends at a point where the only way forward is to hike The Narrows, walking in the waters of the Virgin River.

Along the way, there are amazing views of the red rock canyon walls on either side of you, as well as small cascades in the Virgin River which you follow closely.

This hike being very scenic and highly accessible, expect it to be rather crowded, especially later in the day in the height of tourist season (March- November.)
